The Executive Medical Director will oversee and maintain responsibility for all clinical aspects of Cancer Services provided within Peninsula Health System including but not limited to: the medical and radiation oncology practices and related Medical Directors. The Executive Director will lead and facilitate the development, integration and strategic planning of the Institute. This position will provide direction and oversight regarding services, staff, equipment and facilities. This position will provide continuing education, community outreach and marketing support for the program. This position will serve as liaison with other physicians and will direct and oversee all quality assurance, and quality improvement projects. This position will serve as the Chair of the Cancer Committee and will be responsible for the accountabilities of the cancer committee as outlined in the Commission on Cancer (COC) requirements and standards.
The Executive Medical Director must be a physician licensed within the State of Maryland and Board certified in a cancer related specialty or have the equivalent in education and/or experience.
Masters degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field is highly desirable.
He/She will have sufficient clinical experience in the field and significant administrative experience. Minimum of five (5) years oncology physician experience. Minimum two (2) years of increasing responsibility in cancer program management and/or development.
Knowledge of the content, intent, and applications of regulations, policies, standards, operations, and requirements applicable to Oncology services. Knowledgeable regarding the Commission on Cancer (COC) standards accreditation standards and accreditation process.
