The Outpatient Technician interacts with patients and other health-care providers to collect, transport and/or process blood and other body fluids from a full spectrum of the patient population. He/she performs EKG procedures in conjunction with the Department of Cardiology. He/she participates in educational and training activities and may participate in the performance of routine administrative and non-routine technical functions.
This is a standby phlebotomy position needed a few hours on specific days each month to perform blood draws at assisted living facilities. Patient draws are typically scheduled Tuesday through Friday, beginning at 630 or 7am, depending on location. Position includes venipuncture, specimen transport, requisition entry, processing and administrative duties. Must be scheduled to work a minimum of two shifts per month. Base location is PRMC. Mileage reimbursed for miles traveled in excess from home to base location.
- Successful completion of an approved training program consisting of both lectures and practical application in phlebotomy or comparable education or experience.
- Will be trained in house to perform EKG functions.
- One year's experience performing similar duties preferred.
- Should have good typing skills.
