Lung cancer is the second most common cancer among both men and women, and the Eastern Shore is no exception. The Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute at Peninsula Regional Medical Center diagnosed and treated 224 cases last year in our area. Early detection and awareness of the risk factors can make a tremendous difference in those numbers. That’s why PRMC is sponsoring a Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Awareness event on Wednesday, November 2 from 6-7 p.m. at the Centre at Salisbury. It will be held at the stage area near Boscov’s department store. The event will feature speakers including survivors, researchers and experts in the early detection and treatment of lung cancer. It’s also a celebration for lung cancer survivors; Delmar Lions cheerleaders will be there to perform and there will be door prizes, giveaways and information. All are welcome.
