The Women’s Heart Program at Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute is traveling to Worcester County in September. On Tuesday, September 18, 2012 the non-invasive screening assessment for heart disease will be offered to women inside the Wagner Wellness Van.
The van will be located at Peninsula Regional’s Maintenance Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation & Preventive Cardiology Program parking lot (located in the Berlin Shopping Center at the intersection of Routes 50 and 346 in Berlin). Two screening appointments will be available per hour from 8 a.m. until noon and appointments are required.
The Women’s Heart Program offers a fasting lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, risk ratio and glucose), resting 12-lead EKG, coronary risk profile, bone density assessment, body fat measurement, body mass index, waist to hip ratio, strength and flexibility measurements, blood pressure and pulse oximetry testing, a review of current medications, ankle brachial index, a risk factor analysis, exercise suggestions, self-learning modules (nutrition, stress management and exercise) and a followup care plan if necessary.
Women choosing to participate must not currently be under the care of a cardiologist or have a known history of heart disease. There is a $50 fee associated with each health check and assessment.
