Ground will be broken for the new Delmarva Health Pavilion at Millsboro on October 9, 2012.
Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC), in cooperation with Gillis & Gilkerson, is pleased to continue to expand and advance healthcare services in the Millsboro, DE area.
On October 9, 2012, Peninsula Regional Medical Center President/CEO, Dr. Peggy Naleppa, will join Gillis & Gilkerson officials, state of Delaware, Millsboro and Sussex County governmental leaders to break ground for the new 48,000-square-foot Delmarva Health Pavilion at Millsboro, which will be conveniently located in the heart of Millsboro with easy access right off Route 113. "Improving the health of the communities we serve is our mission, and dating back to our certificate of incorporation in 1897 and its amendment in 1963, that includes Delaware and the entire Delmarva Peninsula," said Dr. Naleppa. "We are excited to continue offering the highest possible standard of care to our friends and their families in Delaware. The Delmarva Health Pavilion at Millsboro will make it much more convenient for them to now connect with these outstanding healthcare providers in Sussex County."
This spectacular new complex will be anchored by a family medicine primary care practice of PRMC's Peninsula Regional Medical Group. Dr. Nancy Squires and her team will be relocating to Millsboro from their current practice location in Dagsboro, DE. Also recruited are specialty care physicians and diagnostic service providers, creating what will truly become a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, one-stop location designed to specifically address many of the healthcare needs in Sussex County. In addition, 75 to 100 new jobs are expected to locate to Millsboro at the pavilion's completion.
"As a local area medical center developer, we are excited to be a part of this leading edge, state of the art, family medical facility," added Palmer Gillis, Partner. "The greater Millsboro economy will be positively impacted by this facility and high quality healthcare will become more accessible for the community."
According to Thompson Reuters, Claritas, Millsboro's population should grow by 8.2% over the next five years, which is just slightly below the expected 8.6% growth for Sussex County during the same time period. Currently, there are over 100,000 people within a 20 minute drive from the center of Millsboro.
"The need for a wide range of healthcare services and chronic disease management is expected to significantly increase in the next half decade in Sussex County, and we're honored to partner with the local community to provide those services now and well into the future," added Dr. Naleppa.
